The Lincoln Trail Garden ProjectThe Lincoln Trail Garden has been a process in the making since 2013. Since its inception, the planning and the funding for the garden has been growing. Donations from community members and from our PTO have supported this project. Numerous hours of preparation have also occurred, including:
- grading the landscape for the garden - installing a curb to redirect water drainage - putting up new fencing to define the area and to keep playground equipment out of the garden - building and set up of garden boxes, a garden shed, composter, and rain barrel In the spring of 2015, students of Lincoln Trail Elementary School had the opportunity to sign up for "The Green Thumb Club". Members of this club were able to get their hands dirty while experiencing all that our garden has to offer. Lincoln Trail educators will also be leading their classrooms to discovery at the garden so that all students may have the opportunity to engage and learn in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) as well as implementing the New Generation Science Standards (NGSS). |
